Under the implementation of the “Life4LV” project and the mSensis’ collaboration with the Laboratory of Experimental Ophthalmology of A.U.Th., the Faculty of Health Sciences, the Department of Medicine and the Laboratory of Experimental Ophthalmology of the A.U.Th., under the “Ahtida Fotos” program and the auspices of the Deanery and the Department of Medicine of the A.U.Th., held a very successful event entitled: “Ahtida Fotos – Vision Day: Information Day for the Visually Impaired”, which attracted large numbers of people and raised the awareness of the general public.
The event took place on Saturday, May 19th, 2018 at the KEDEA building (next to the Student Club) at 10.00 am. with keynote speaker the Professor of Ophthalmology Mr. Vassilios Karampatakis.
The goal of the “Ahtida Fotos” program is to assist low vision patients in carrying out communications and improve their level of living, as there is no way of improving their vision with any kind of treatment or surgery.
During the meeting, answers were given to key issues affecting the community of people with low vision, such as:

• What is coming up soon
• Stem cells
• Gene therapies
• New drugs
• Electronic aids
